Discover the House

Before the wine, there is the land. Over time, Deutz has cultivated an approach that is continuously more respectful of Nature and its gifts – the white, porous chalk which lends its champagnes their full minerality, and the successive, uniquely different seasons of the vineyard.

Before the wine, there is the land.

Over time, Deutz has cultivated an approach that is continuously more respectful of Nature and its gifts – the white, porous chalk which lends its champagnes their full minerality, and the successive, uniquely different seasons of the vineyard.

Today, this approach is embodied in a vision based on sustainable viticulture and a commitment to the Champagne terroir that is stronger than ever, driven by a patient relationship with the rhythms of life – the House’s foremost priority.

An increasingly demanding commitment to living terroirs.

A Vision for the Future

By tradition as much as by conviction, Maison Deutz maintains a constant standard of excellence from vineyard to cellar. This includes reducing inputs, carrying out a careful and in-depth observation of the vineyard, and respecting natural rhythms. This sustainable approach, fuelled by a desire to pass on a preserved heritage, was recognised as early as 2015 with dual certification under the “Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne” and “High Environmental Value” labels.

Since 2023, Maison Deutz has been writing a new chapter in its history by converting its vineyards to organic farming, with official organic certification expected by 2027. A natural evolution for a House committed to the future of its terroirs.

A Holistic Approach

Keen to develop its environmental commitments beyond its own vineyards, Maison Deutz also supports its partner winegrowers in moving towards increasingly sustainable viticulture. This spirit of shared commitment gave rise to a collective certification programme in 2021, bringing together around fifty partner winegrowers.

Lastly, the House is aware of the challenges posed by climate change, and as such has measured its environmental footprint. An initial Bilan Carbone® assessment in 2015, updated in 2021, enabled it to establish a precise assessment of its impact. In the wake of this step, a tangible action plan was launched — including responsible procurement and streamlined supply chains — demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding the future of the estate and the region in which it is located.
