The House
Identity

Remaining true to history, terroir and to oneself sometimes requires more daring than simply breaking with tradition.

Since 1838, Deutz has remained true to the same guiding principle: favouring precision over ease, excellence over volume, and longevity over immediate impact. Nearly two centuries of exacting standards and independence have forged a rare identity: a Champagne House free in its choices, faithful to its vision and to its own rhythm.
Rooted in Aÿ since its foundation, one of the few villages classified as 100% Grand Cru for both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, whose name it proudly carries throughout the world, the House crafts Champagnes of precision, radiance and elegance, drawing on a savoir-faire where tradition and modernity meet in harmony.
As a family-owned and independent House, Deutz is accountable only to itself. It is this identity that is now embodied in a promise: the freedom of being true to oneself, unconditionally.

Unconditionally DEUTZ
Since 1838, we walk a path both simple and demanding, doing what we love, and doing it our way, with passion and an uncompromising eye: revealing the greatness of Champagne's terroirs through precise, finely crafted, and elegant wines. We seek things done well, those that can be sensed in a detail, or assert themselves at first glance. We favour the right gesture over the easy one, deliberate choices over the convenient, bold commitments that seek neither comfort nor consensus, but always the absolute mastery of quality.
We want our champagnes to rise in harmony, and to bring a little more emotion to every conversation, every glance, every silence.
We choose to remain true to what we are: to honour our history rather than passing trends, to affirm our singularity rather than borrow someone else’s.
This is our way of being ourselves, by vocation, by freedom, out of love.

Maison Deutz, Guardian of an Exceptional Terroir
Deutz’s calling is to reveal, through each of its cuvées, the splendour of the terroirs from which they originate. Champagnes in which the freshness of the fruit, the finesse of the textures and the harmony of the aromas unite to form silky wines that leave a long-lasting memory.
The soul and identity of Deutz champagnes are inextricably linked to their remarkable terroir. Aÿ is the historic birthplace of Champagne winemaking, enjoying a privileged position at the heart of the great terroirs of the Vallée de la Marne, the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims.
Spread across a single, contiguous estate on these privileged lands, the House brings together the family home, its gardens and its chalk cellars – historic “cradles” dug 100 feet underground just a stone’s throw from the vineyards – allowing the spirit of Aÿ to permeate every place and every action.
Two Centuries of High Standards and Independence
Today, Maison Deutz continues to steward this living terroir with the same passion.
Over the centuries, it has upheld a philosophy of exacting standards and selectivity. This constant search for excellence is evident in the meticulous selection of the finest vineyard plots, and in the care taken in crafting such subtle and delicate cuvées.
These choices have helped write a history steeped in daring and creativity which, vintage after vintage, has forged the unique identity of this independent House. Often a pioneer, yet always faithful to the family of the great Champagne Houses, Deutz continues to showcase the fruits of these exceptional terroirs.
A consistency that can be summed up in a single promise: Unconditionally Deutz.
