The House
The Art of Living

At Deutz, the art of hospitality has remained in the same hands and at the same location for nearly two centuries. Whether in the grand salons of the Aÿ house or in the gardens, every reception embodies an unchanging art de vivre, sustained by the undiminished charm of a lived-in family home. Here, elegance permeates the smallest details, the silences, the gestures.

More than a Champagne House, Deutz is an intimate, distinctive and rare guesthouse. You do not simply enter; you are welcomed inside. The House head chef, Nicolas Lefèvre, crafts food-wine pairings in constant dialogue with Cellar Master Caroline Latrive, while the tapestries, paintings and period furniture tell a story that has remained true to itself all these years, entirely detached from passing fads..
Hospitality here is intimate, going far beyond just a dinner, far more than just the décor. Guests are welcomed here in the same way as the dishes are crafted: with precision, care, and a sincere desire to share.
The Art of Hospitality in Aÿ
Hospitality is an art of intention.
At Deutz, every detail counts: the care taken with the wine, the perfect serving temperature, the right glass, the timing, and the moment of silence shared before the first sip. The same high standard guides every gesture. These are rituals, rather than rules.
From the private salons on Rue Jeanson to the House’s wine cellar (where vintages dating back to 1961 are stored), and right through to the chalk “cradles,” this art of hospitality reflects Deutz Champagnes: refined, precise, and never ostentatious.

The Culinary Arts
Deutz Champagnes truly come into their own at the dining table.
From a dish with a generous sauce to a delicate morsel to a white meat: for every texture there is a perfect balance, a precise tension, capable of channelling both delicacy and power. This is undoubtedly why the finest restaurants choose Deutz; the House’s cuvées engage with the cuisine without overpowering it.
In the cosy salons of the 19th-century mansion, wine moves from conversation to the dining table. The pairings devised for the House’s friends are created with a constant, watchful eye on precision and restraint, always to bring the best out of the Champagnes.
Friends of Deutz
Whilst the residence in Aÿ remains closed to the public, it opens its doors, by invitation only, to Friends of the House, in the spirit of confidentiality that has always defined it.
These friends also come together beyond these walls: a loyal network of sommeliers, wine merchants and restaurateurs who have chosen to champion Deutz Champagnes. Ambassadors who, while not representing a brand, are its foremost interpreters – and often among the most eloquent. They are also the ones who share the conviction that a champagne can have its own voice, a recognisable style, and a consistency that endures through the years and across vintages.
