Deutz Brut Classic, The Freedom to Create
29 September 2026Brut Classic is the stylistic signature of Maison Deutz. As the first cuvée blended each year, it consistently expresses the balance, finesse and radiance that define the House’s Champagnes.

Yet behind this apparent certainty lies a genuine freedom to create, where nothing is ever written in advance.
Each year comes the moment when everything begins anew.
“When the blending process begins, we arrive with everything we have seen, sensed and experienced. A childhood memory, a market alive with colour and scent, the fragrance of orange blossom discovered on a journey, the first light of dawn in the vineyards... All these sensations nourish our memory and our sensibility. They accompany us, often without us even realising it.” Caroline Latrive
To this sensory memory is added the memory of the wines themselves.
Since the harvest, the still wines have continued to evolve in the quiet of the cellars at Maison Deutz. Month after month, the Cellar Master observes them, tastes them and allows them to reveal themselves. At Deutz, time is an integral part of the creative process. Each wine must be given the freedom to fully express its personality before blending.
Creation often begins with an attention to what has yet to reveal its true shape.
Then comes the blending.
“Each year, we begin with a blank page. With more than 200 still wines, each carrying its own expression, the possibilities are almost endless. That is what makes the exercise as fascinating as it is demanding. We don’t move in a straight line. We try, we question, we sometimes go back to an idea we had set aside. We have to accept that we may not be right immediately. The wines often require us to rethink our certainties.”

While the Cellar Master own the final decision, the savoir-faire is also shaped by expertise shared and passed down through generations.
Today, the process remains deeply collective. Around the Tasting Committee table, perspectives meet, experiences complement one another, and memories of a terroir or a particular parcel enrich the discussion. Little by little, the vast field of possibilities narrows until everything falls into place.
This patient work eventually finds its point of balance: the moment when the Deutz style is instantly recognisable, while remaining, each year, subtly different.
The final blend reveals the true identity of Brut Classic: precise, refined and silky as a caress, it expresses with remarkable consistency that alliance of purity and harmony which defines the House style. A refined signature where crystalline freshness, aromatic complexity and voluptuous texture come together.
Deutz Brut Classic. Faithful to itself, yet different each year.

Harvest 2026
Each year, the harvest marks the culmination of a cycle. In 2026, nature accelerated its pace. Shaped by frost, intense heat and exceptional earliness, the season gave rise to grapes of remarkable quality, combining concentration and expressive character.

Marc Hoellinger - CEO of Maison Deutz
The Deutz CEO embodies a generational shift as much as a change in leadership. Working alongside the House’s movers and shakers, Marc Hoellinger is convinced of the need for daily reinvention while remaining true to oneself.

Guided by a technical yet sensitive approach, the Cellar Master breathes new life into the House, approaching each cuvée as a work of art in its own right.
